About the Program
The Ohio Berkshire Donor Gilt Program is open to all Ohio 4-H and FFA youth. Participants interested in applying must submit a short essay detailing their background, their agricultural operation, and their reasons for wanting to raise a Berkshire litter.
Program Requirements
Tell us about your background, your agricultural operation, and why you want to raise a Berkshire litter. Essays must be postmarked by April 15, 2026.
To successfully complete the program, participants are required to enter and show their gilt at the 2026 Ohio State Fair.
Following the fair, the gilt must be bred to a Berkshire boar. Discounted semen pricing is available through select companies to assist with this process.
Each application must include signatures from the applicant, a parent or guardian, and their advisor. A phone number must also be provided so you can be contacted regarding your free gilt.
